A baby jumping spider!

This little thing is a zebra jumping spider, or Salticus scenicus, which translates to 'theatrical jumper' They do tend to be tiny little showoffs, and if they spot a person around them are usually very curious and will start raising their heads up and looking about. As with most jumping spiders, they track their prey, stalk it slowly until they're within striking distance, and then pounce- there's are reasons I tend to think of them as tiny eight legged cats, and that's one of them. Here are some pictures of what it'd look like grown up:

How did you know dragonflies are my favorite animal?

Well, you didn't, but they are! Hooray for dragonflies today! Their wings are so pretty.

Okay I think you can count my conversion to a spider lover complete. I've started getting restless and scrolling past other species to get to the spiders. And I love dragonflies. I've spent entire days photographing them.

The eyes! With the tiny lashes!

On my house in my hometown we have tons of enormous, like four inch long dragonflies and they just hang out with their fronts stuck to our house. It's awesome :D

There are tons of dragonflies around here (Vancouver). They're so pretty. Probably one of my favourite kinds of insects.
