The bus stop is the worst.

Uhm, one time at comic con when I was sixteen I was chilling with my friends when a guy sat down near me and started talking to me about his familiars and the magic he had done recently. I don't know why he thought I would care. Then he started caressing my leg near my knee. NONE of my friends helped me and I was in such shock I didn't know what to do. I spent the rest of the con glued to my mother.

The next year when I wasn't around a guy ran up and dry humped my friend. She removed him, grabbed him by the neck and told him to leave but she was so shocked she didn't know what to do either.

Conventions can be terrifying.

Yeah. I'm really glad a lot more of them are starting to adopt harassment policies.

My number one rule for those places is to never go anywhere alone. It's sad, but I just don't feel safe at them.

Both of those are disgusting. And appalling. ewww

It's really not uncommon at a con. Some people seem to think that the reason you and I are there is to have sex with them.

Yes, because if I'm walking around enthusiastically in a cosplay of my favorite character ~~who is not in any way meant to appear "sexy" as your average horny teenager would define it~~, attending panels, and buying (usually gender-neutral) merch and hauling it around with me, just screams "Please assault me! My breasts and vagina are here just for you!!" Obviously. Duh.

Fortunately, I had no trouble at the last con I attended, which was my first con, but it was admittedly a lot smaller.

If something did happen, though, I'd like to think I'd make a scene. And if I got banned for it, keep making noise. Because that shit HAS to stop.

I know what you mean. That line of thinking is so gross but so pervasive. It's pretty sickening and saddening.

I'm glad your first con went well. Hopefully the rest will go as smoothly.

Do it. Make a scene. I didn't and nothing came of it except my added fear and shame. I honestly doubt you would get banned from a con for it. That would make no sense.

Well if it happens then I will try to! (ugh) If I did get banned, I'd demand a refund for my badge. etc. etc.
