If he's actually talking about his sexual lust for fictional females in front of his girlfriend every time they appear... he don't really sound like a winner.

Some people really don't have a problem discussing that sort of thing with their significant other. And OP could be exaggerating the "every time they appear", if it's true that does sound exhausting.

But they are fictional characters so I could see how insecurity could come into play here, the best solution might be for both of them to work on their issues, for him to stop talking about it as much and for her to work on her insecurity.

"If he's actually talking about his sexual lust for fictional females in front of his girlfriend every time they appear... he don't really sound like a winner."

Yep this. Also, even though these female characters might be fictional, a cosplayer who looks a lot like the character isn't.

That's a stretch.

Anyway, the boyfriend sounds really obnoxious, but is it possible he doesn't know how much it's bothering the OP? Maybe the OP should tell him it bothers her and is ruining the characters (she doesn't even have to bring up the jealousy, she could just say that the repetitiveness of his statement is annoying enough that it's ruining the character.)

Eh, to me it's a total turn-off, but if other girls don't mind than it's none of my business. However, since the OP seems to (at least somewhat) share me feelings, I'm inclined to agree they might not be the best match.

Eh. My SO and I talk about our lust for fictional and nonfictional females and males all the time. If you are confident in your relationship then it's just another topic of conversation (and something kinky to bring up in bed).

It depends on the frequency and amount of detail for me. My partner and I are in an open poly relationship and certainly don't have any issue saying "that person is hot!" but I get very uncomfortable if someone starts telling me in detail every time they see the character or actor how much they want to have sex with them.

And I think that's kinda the thing. OP is evidently uncomfortable with it, and BF should respect her enough to tone it down. (Though I don't think OP mentioned whether or not she's talked to him about it.)

I agree. There's a big difference between noticing an attractive person (which is kind of involuntary) and rubbing it in to your SO that you find another person really attractive. Where to draw the line between appropriate and inappropriate depends on the kind of people you are and the kind of relationship you have, but in general you should try to avoid making your partner feel uncomfortable or inadequate.

For me, it's not even really that it's rubbing it in. It's that I really am uncomfortable with that kind of fixation. Esp with the OP clarifying below that he did it with RL women as well, that just... is really bothersome to me and raises lots of red flags. That really says to me there's an objectification issue, and the fact that he doesn't care enough to respect the OP's comfort levels is just a problem, period.

But yeah, thinking about it, at certain points in my life that would have made me feel horribly inadequate and insecure, as if a fictional character was more attractive than I was. So I can see that, too.
