I agree about the lack of build up! As the pairing isn't really romantic in canon, fic writers need to really explain how they got together, unless it's an established relationship fic. I've enjoyed some stories that don't have a good build up for other aspects they did well, but the best fic I've read has had that.

It makes perfect sense! Canon doesn't really give us too much to work with, so I think it leads to a lot more theories being made by fans and become popular.

That was why in my first oneshot I wrote I had them in an established relationship already... because almost every oneshot I have read has been a first time fic! I don't get it? Writing first times is hard, for me, because of all the prep! (not that this fandom preps... hardly at all. which is a squick of mine.)

I love reading meta in this fandom, I wish that people would put it to use in fic.

I am hoping eventually I get up enough courage (and work on my characterizations enough) to write a longer... slow build fic. That is what I want, at least! Sorry, I am rambling... I just have no one to talk to about TW XD
