It took me two blocks to get over the shock of him having done it/try to figure out what the hell he was doing, and then another four blocks to get the driver's attention. If I didn't make the driver aware there was a problem first, there was a nonzero probability that I would be asked to get off the bus for causing a scene, and I didn't have another way home at the time.
