That explains why they didn't look familier. I watch most WWII/Holocaust movies, but I refused to watch this one because it was Polanski's. Rapist scum do not deserve to get my money.

And lbr, even though Wilm Hosenfeld worked for the Nazis, I'd say he was a pretty decent human being. I don't really consider him a Nazi anyway - he was recognized as a 'Righteous among the Nations', after all.

This is what I came here to say. He may have worn the Nazi uniform but he wasn't a "Nazi" at heart. He was a good man.

I felt sorry for him at the end of the film. I think the director was trying to show how the pianist was the only one who knew who he really was at heart. To the rest of the world he was just another Nazi. I think that was incredibly sad not just because a kind man was lumped together with a bunch of assholes but because it undermined the pianist's experience and what that kindness meant to him.

You can have them, but you need more elaboration than just "I ship it" (and a lot of people used to have "i ship it" and that's it) and OP did so I think it's okay

I think it's OK because the Nazi was a good guy really, and the real life PIanist stayed friends with the real life Nazi's family for the rest of his life. I can't quite remember, it's in the book, but I think the Nazi died quite a long time ago, but the pianist lived until quite old, and kept in touch with the family.

Also I felt the film didn't give any clues as to the sexuality of either character, well at least I can't remember any, it's a while ago, so I can see how you got there OP, personally I saw it as more of a bromance, and a very touching real life friendship.

lol I like how all of the comments to this are "it's okay" and "I ship it too", but people are so quick to scream about being offended by anything relating to Hetalia.
