I don't read fanfic for that fandom, and I've only seen most of the first season (and none of the second) BUT I agree with your B!S for sure. The idea that a strong female character can't be girly or have traditionally feminine interests is absurd, and IMO hurts women just as much as poorly written damsels in distress do. One of the best parts of FiM is the fact that it celebrates girls of all different types of personalities and interests without looking down on any of them as ungirly or weak.

This so much! The first episode of MLP I ever saw was the one where Rarity gets kidnapped by the dogs and saves herself, and I loved so much that the girly character was also strong and self-reliant that I immediately became a fan of the show.
