I am not familiar with the one of the fandoms and I'm going to say that might be the case for a lot of people. We've discussed Loki so many times here lately so I swear I've seen there's plenty of people who don't think "he's just misunderstood" is a good enough excuse for his behaviour. Other than, yes of course people are more willing to overlook the bad stuff when the character is considered attractive. That's pretty common across all fandoms sadly.

I don't get why anybody has to try and 'excuse' Loki's behavior. He's a Trickster god who has delusions of grandeur and some massive daddy issues. Can't we just enjoy the pretty and move along?

This is common in people. It is human nature to gloss over or ignore "the bad stuff" when a person is attraction. Human nature. It's not something unique to fandom.

(That last one is rather interesting because one of the conclusions is attractive people are often judged harsher when the jurors deliberate because the assumption is the attractive criminal is held to a higher standard.)

Anyway, I don't mean to jump on your comment in particular. It just kind of burns me when people act like fandom is some separate, exclusive collection of idiotic people doing stupid things. Yeah, we do stupid things, but what we do is not always a product of being in fandom, but of our human natures.
