(Anonymous) 2012-08-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)People aren't EVILLY HATING ON WALT, honest to god. This is WHO HIS CHARACTER IS. The whole Mr Chips to Scarface thing has been drummed into us so many times that it's almost a cliche, but people still seem to take offence when you point out that, right now, Walt is the villain. He's a compelling character, he's well written, he's brilliantly played. And he's a fucking scumbag who makes me furious almost all the time he's onscreen. It's not like people dislike Walt for crazy reasons that they're pulling out of thin air. People dislike Walt because of who he is and the bad things he's done.
Not that Walt's whole protect the family schtick isn't arguably still a motivator for him, but at this point he's changed so much as a human being that his whole attitude towards the family that he wants to protect is warped. He's basically holding Skyler hostage and he's EATING JUNIOR'S BREAKFAST. What next? Is he going to steal baby Holly's lovely pink romper? I WOULDN'T PUT IT PAST HIM.
