Honey, in fandom, SJW *is* any activist one disagrees with/dislikes, so your distinction here is redundant.

I respectfully disagree.

I've met people who disagreed/disliked and who eloquently made their point without 'Internet screaming' and drama, and actually managed to make people think about things instead of just calling them horrible people.

I respectfully disagree. "SJW" means "they said things in a way I didn't like! Waaah so mean!"

There's a reason "tone argument" gets pulled out a lot, because "you're hurting your cause by being angry" is the best way to dismiss someone's arguments. Whew!

This doesn't negate that there are some real fucking actualfax genuine douches who are also activists, as with everywhere, and lord knows i've encountered them IRL and online and suffered for it, but if you'll look at this whole thread, "SJW" and "activist" and "meeeaaan" are being fallaciously conflated.

Privilege guilt really really really wants cookies and soothing words.

If you can't construct your point in a civilized, rational way - I don't consider it anyone's obligation to listen to you.

Hell, I don't think it's anyone *obligation* to listen to anyone - but it's the civil thing to do, and most people are actually willing to.

Specifically in fandom, there are a lot of douches. Worse so, there are a bunch of people who only barely know what they're talking about themselves and are parroting sociology 101. I just do not take those people seriously, even though they might have a valid point somewhere in there.

I understand that your experience with this might be different, but to me the term SJW is completely burned in the context of fandom.

+1 for "civilized, rational" as if you've got the monopoly on that definition. What is rational is HIGHLY contested in activist spaces. No dice.
