You're right, girlfriends should not have their own lives and certainly not do anything that offends you personally. Their purpose is to serve you, dote on you every moment of their lives, not have any hobbies, outside interests, other friends, and certainly not be sexual unless it's in relation to you.

Why does "my SO would rather do something else than spend time with me" mean "my SO's life doesn't completely revolve around me?"

It's possible that OP overreacted to something that shouldn't have been an issue. It's also possible that OP's ex was ignoring him/her (and for the life of me, I still can't figure out why some of you think that that is okay). It is, however, highly unlikely that the situation was anywhere near as extreme as you seem to have decided it was. You really kind of seem like you're projecting onto a secret that is quite vague and inconclusive.

No, it is you who is right: "relationship' shouldn't change a person's life in any way, and being in a relationship doesn't mean that you have to consider another person (or people) in the way you spend your time. And it certainly doesn't mean that you have to reconsider having sexual interactions with other people. After all, why should being in a relationship be in any way different than being single, right?
