That's what I meant by having opposite worldviews. Sandor was incredibly bitter and cynical of people and society, while Sansa was naive and optimistic. I'm sure the irony of their relationship was very well intended! I do secretly hope that Sansa eventually does end up finding her heroic knight in shining armour, but knowing GRRM I doubt that's ever going to be likely, haha. :-(

I personally love how the series turns the popular idea of knights and chivalry on its head, as in history it was also a complete load of bs.

Best one sentence explanation I've heard so far for ASOIF is that it's an utter inversion of high fantasy. Were this Tolkien, nobility and high-mindedness should be saving the day. By high fantasy logic Ned should be sitting on the iron throne, now, and not, you know, pining for the fjords.

Makes me love the series even more, though. Could just be the cruel left over poli sci major side of me, though, too.
