1. Have more confidence! I think pretty much anyone who takes pride in their OCs will feel a twinge of pain at the idea of them being like someone else's character, but keep in mind whoever witnesses your character only knows as much as what you show them. Ask yourself: are they REALLY like that character? Did you, infact, make a mimicry of someone else's work? Which is also nothing to be ashamed of, but it might mean you're not letting the character be who they are. WHICH might sound a little crazy, I don't know. But to me it's not possible to go and 'change' characters, once you've really found the character. They are who they are. Certainly, you can write them different, but it's... a lie then, right? Instead of trying to change them, why not find out more about them? Any character, from any movie, novel, anime, manga or even real life, looks like someone else from a far enough distance. There's no shame in that, it's just impossible to avoid. But as you zoom in on them; their mannerisms, their look, their opinions, their mentality, preferences, outlook on life, past, present, future should make them different, make them who they are. Have confidence in that, love that and you'll never have a reason to 'change' anyone again.

Characters are like people in a way, it's easy to relate one person to another, but that doesn't mean they're really anything alike, and there's no reason for them to change their clothing on their walk to make that more apparent, because in the end they're just making themselves look more like a completely different person.

11. ....that does look creepy. However, 'just draw' isn't an option for some people, and photoshop is! And the actors are visual representations of the characters. Additionally some people probably find real people more appealing than drawn ones. So...

13. RP somewhere else instead =\

15. I enjoyed ranma 1/2 and for some reason never mentally classified it as a harem anime even tho it clearly is. Also, that whole paragraph about the horrible misrepresentation of women makes me wonder if get get all self righteously pissy over things like Fushigi Yuugi or. Hell. Any anime ever where men are emasculated or made nothing but mindless sex fiends.

20. ....who were the characters?

22. I'm not sure a genuinely kind person would enjoy treating others badly under an anonymous guise. Maybe you're just a regular semi-sadistic person who can't be a pretentious asshole to people's faces? There is a quote I saw the other day that went something like "You character is what you are when no one else is looking".
