People wanted another one, so...

PANFANDOM REC MEME

"I ship it!"
"I want fic!"
"I want art!"
"I don't care what it is, but I want it!"
"Where's the fandom?"

Rec meme! You ask for recs, and others provide (or fill!).

Maybe there's something you'd really like to see but you can't find it. Why not ask for help? It might be out there! Or maybe there's something you really loved reading and you want someone to geek over it with. Why not rec it to someone else? Maybe they'll love it too! Who knows, someone out there might be looking for something that sounds exactly like someone you know just created.

Don't feel bad about reccing your own stuff, either! Apparently someone else wants to see it, right?

One Piece is one of those series that's ridiculously silly - until it suddenly isn't.

This. It has some delightfully broad humour and a lot of physical comedy and seems ridiculous and silly and then, BAM, you're sobbing so much you can't breathe. I think that's one of the things that makes its fans so devoted - there is such a huge array of emotion throughout each arc, and the silliness may seem ridiculous at first, but it actually balances out the darker and more tragic themes. I'd also recommend trying the manga, rather than the anime (especially because the original America dub was terrible and messed up the tone, not mention most of the jokes). I will say that a lot of fans tend to think of it as just a fun series until they hit that one arc that really has them addicted, where the characters stop being drawings and become family. For a lot of people, it's the Baratie arc. For me, it was Arlong Park. Basically, even if you don't feel an immediate connection, if you have the patience to stick with it, it can be incredibly rewarding.

OP who was asking for recs ...

Okay you've convinced me to give the manga a try. Are any of the online versions legal or are those all fan uploads? If I like enough I'm willing to buy them too but I'd like to see a few before I start since there are so many...
