lol. cute.

...that was kind of mean of them. Reminds me of when my own "friends" would band together to make up some lie and then lead me on for ages with it. Like, "we totally went and saw N'Sync and got to talk to them and they liked us and said we could sing with them but sorry it was only for us not you."

I had a "friend" like that too, anon. My sympathies.

That is the most cruel thing I have ever read. D:

I would have believed as well. It was really easy to fool me when I was a kid. But, I guess being naive makes your childhood funnier?

Awwwwww! I wanted Pokémon to be real too.

A similar thing happened to me when I was little, OP, so don't feel too bad. Sometimes when we're that young we just want the magic to be real so bad that we don't think of all the logical holes and problems in a story, regardless of whether it's presented to us as fact or fiction.

You're not alone, anon. When I was in first grade, a girl I knew had me totally convinced that the Loch Ness monster lived in the lake next to her house and that it was her friend. I only realized she was lying when someone explained to me what 'Loch Ness' meant. ;_;

I actually did this to a couple of my own friends back then regarding Digimon. Wasn't doing it to be mean though. Did it cause I reached the age of rationality and wanted to fuel the magic for my friends who still wanted to believe in that kind of thing. Twas fun. Kept them going for a couple weeks making gestures out the window acting like I was interacting with Renamon or something. Helped to have that digivice toy that came with the blue card too.

A "friend" did that to me too with Medabots. *sob*

Oh, I've done this to my BFF. I created my own universe, though, with planets, countries, people and et c. And I convinced her that it was true. She's believed it for five years. We played together with different charachters from this world (I've been saying they were real, but invisible and sometimes untouchable, so that people from our world wouldn't notice them).

But I meant nothing bad, and she's still my best friend. It is just that something was wrong with me, I guess.

You sound nowhere near as mean.spirited or selfish as this girl, but reading the tale (and the other experiences from other users) here might make you feel less alone?

Turns out this is not that unheard of, and the experiences ranged anywhere from "it was just harmless fun we shared together c:" to "it turned out this person was genuinely insane or mentally off and I had no idea

Your ten year old self is adorable. That's okay. I believed a girl who told me she was a fairy when she showed me marks on her back. And that's one of the dumb lies I believed. At least you believed a cool lie.
