yugioh fandom ran into that quandary quite a bit

in addition to these two, there are really popular pairings involving a boy and his evil haunted magic necklace, and a boy and his evil sadistic split personality

and those ships aren't even weird as some of the canon ones

It might be a show about card games, but the main reason I love the series is for the characters. I love how diverse they are and how they really care about each other. So I approve of your choice of your statement.
