My fellow non-shippers, where are you?

[personal profile] mekkio 2012-08-22 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I know I am not the only fan out there who doesn't ship anyone with anybody. I am just not into that aspect of fandom. If the writers don't write the characters as a couple, I don't feel like doing it outside of show/book/movie/etc.

So, who out there doesn't ship anyone?

Let's create a secret handshake.

Can I be involved in a partial handshake? *waves hand awkwardly*.

I just don't like romantic relationships, which is a huge part of it. There has to be a GREAT reason, it has to make a ton of sense for me to ship something.

While I do ship people in many shows, there are plenty of shows I like where I don't ship anyone.

The Mentalist, Castle and Criminal Minds come to mind..

It depends on the series/show/book/movie. Sometimes I ship, sometimes I don't.

But I'll give you a thumbsup for those times I don't ship <3

I generally sit back and watch the canon develop, unless the canon is done badly, then I start crack shipping for fun.

Depends on the fandom. Or what you mean by "shipping". I'm not like a die hard true love OTPer, but I'll read romance or porn with any combination of characters depending on the fandom.

And even if I read porn or romance or whatever fic I don't want it in the actual source.

This comment was kind of pointless, sorry.

Most shows, I don't ship. I have a total of five ships, 2 canon and 3 non-canon.

I would have been nodding along and gleefully high-fiving you until last week, when I discovered how deeply invested I actually was in what I now realise is my OTP. So, uh, whoops?

Apart from knowing that I would CRY BUCKETS if anything happened to break up this particular couple, though, I'm generally not a shippy person and I can respect any pairing. (I can usually see why people ship them, too, even in the case of very weird or fucked-up ships, even if I personally am squicked all to hell.) I far prefer to read and write gen and awesome friendships and angst and adventures, though.

Super late anon is super late, but I never ship unless it's a big part of the source material. ie. I play a lot of video games, so stuff like Persona and BioWare games you can essentially date someone in-game, and even then it's not that big of a deal. Anything else, well, I'm just not big on romantic ships.
