Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the reason.

Plus, if they don't count Mulan as a "Princess" then they don't have any Asian princesses. So then they'd have to make a new princess that's Asian and etc etc....

I've always really wanted to see a Disney adaptation of the Princess Kaguya story. I just really like that story, that's all.
