TW: child abuse

(Anonymous) 2012-08-22 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
This reminds me of this article I read recently, where a family didn't believe the mentally handicapped daughter that she was molested by her uncle since the police didn't find any evidence. They let the uncle have contact with her for years and only now the case was reopened and they found out there was evidence after all.

They're now planning to sue the police but the only thing I thought the whole time was "why the hell didn't you believe your daughter?"

Dunno if it's possible, but, man, if I were the police, I would counter-sue their parents for this fucking negligence.

Both of them really screwed up here. It really pissed me off when the parents just went around complaining about how badly the police did their work.

So, I'm reading this book right, and the chapter I'm on talks about how people will revise their memory of the past so that it neatly corresponds to what they know now (and absolves them of any errors or wrong-doing).

Sounds like what these parents are doing. :-/

sadly, yeah

at least now that you're reading this book you can put it in practice to monitor your thoughts and catch your brain in the act c:
