But Dreamworks is as heteronormative as Disney and a lot worse in the POC department.

Really? El Dorado and Spirit are the first movies that come to mind when I think Dreamworks, and they both have strong POC characters.

(And the third thing that comes to mind, while it's live-action, is Paulie, which ditto.)

That's two movies though. Meanwhile... Disney has how many films with POC leads (as in, they're not just side characters like they are in those two films)? Aladdin, Pocahontas, Princess and the Frog, Mulan, Brother Bear, Lilo and Stitch, Jungle Book, Emperor's New Groove (and multiple others with POC costars).

edit: Sorry forgot Prince of Egypt. They have one movie with a POC lead then, out of almost thirty.

Good point - I can never remember just which movies are Dreamworks - but when I looked up the list, it's worth noting that they have a pretty heavy proportion of animal movies, and it's harder to judge those on POC-ness.

As someone else on the thread pointed out, earlier Disney was more on the animal movies, so that might have something to do with it.
