(Anonymous) 2012-08-23 12:31 am (UTC)(link)And I have the same problem as the OP - I get that kids make stuff up. But if the parents/guardians take the time to actually listen, they can tell the difference between "there's a monster in my closet" and "something really bad is happening to my friend at school."

(Anonymous) 2012-08-23 01:14 am (UTC)(link)The worst part, is that Dumbledore KNEW Harry and co. where telling the truth or were in danger in practically ever situation of the books, but kept quiet for his own reasons (keep Voldemort and his followers in the dark; to move along plans of his own, to test Harry, etc.).
If McGonagall had known the truth, she would have intervened (unless Dumbledore intervened), but she was too no nonsense, so even if she was willing to listen, it was in a very limited fashion.
Snape probably knew a lot of things via Legilimency, but he was a bitter asshole and twisted everything to better hate on Harry and on the world.
But even outside that, I hated that the Dursleys managed to brainwash everyone to believe Harry was a delinquent and how easily the Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, etc. turned on Harry.
It's a fun series if you just go with it and accept it as is, but if you try to think about it too much it'll get ruined for you.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-23 03:41 am (UTC)(link)...back on topic, can you see Luna as a mom? I'm guessing her kids are going to get at least the benefit of the doubt on *everything*.

fuck yes I ship them
I need to re-read the books and come up with a good outline or at least get a good handle on Luna and Harry, but I want to write a fanfic where Harry meets her and befriends her in CoS.
I mean, shipping is cool, but I think Harry needed her even more as a friend, and she could really benefit from having a fiercely loyal student who isn't afraid to fuck someone's shit up really having her back
Luna would be the best mom

It sort of makes sense the adults considered "Chosen One" to mean "Chosen Weapon" rather than "Chosen Person".
