In which case they shouldn't have gone with the "Willow goes evil due to her lover's death" route. I mean, psycho lesbian is also a tired old stereotype.

I was pretty disappointed that they didn't follow up on the very realistic slippery-slope into moral disregard route that Willow was going down in "Bargaining" due to her obsession with protecting Buffy, and made her all nutty and magic-addicted instead. THAT would've made a far better "Willow goes bad" story.

Absolutely. I wasn't enamoured of the magic addiction (it seemed...contrived, maybe?) but Buffy got shot too, and Willow going after Warren would have made as much sense if they hadn't already had her trying to reform to get Tara back.
