Okay, WITCH fans. Be honest. How amazing is this comic? I got a lot on my comic plate and I only want to dive into something if it's mindblowingly, orgasmicaly good. I'm already sold on the art, but I've read Sky Doll, and I frankly find Barbara Canepa's writing to be very, very average.

I love love love the first two storylines, and the third one is okay. Then the comic lost me a bit. Currently, it has one-shot-ish stories, which is fine, there is some really cute stuff, but I hope they'll return to the arc-structure soon, with a more mature arc.

It starts out good, and I think the first six or so issues are amazing. Then Disney kicked the creators out of the project, scrapped their original ideas (even as a kid I noticed that the atmosphere suddenly changed between issues 6 and 7) and it became a steady decline in quality. The first three arcs are enjoyable, the fourth one is okay, and I'll always defend the fifth one because it made my OTP for Cedric canon.

After that arc, the comic is pure crap and keeps getting worse and worse. This is partly because they accept ideas from their readers, which has resulted in some totally WTF plot developments, partly because they stopped doing long plots and partly (I guess) from the fact that there are something like dozen people writing it. There have been such major continuity errors that I just can't excuse them, such as introducing a minor character who is Will's kindergarten friend from Heatherfield even though the whole series begins with Will moving to Heatherfield with her mother. I could write an essay about everything that went wrong with the series after the fifth arc, but I'll stop here and restrain myself.

It was cancelled in my country last December, so I don't know what's going on at the moment and if it has improved at all.

I'm Italian and I can say no, it hasn't improved at all. :( So bad... it was SO GREAT at the beginning, and it was just developed in the ugliest way. :(

I haven't been keeping up with the comics since which arc I can't even remember, but THEY BROKE UP!?

And that special comic they had. Wow.

But, I don't particularly care about C/C anyway.

A W.I.T.C.H. secret! :D Wow, I feel so nostalgic. I loved the comics, but then they went downhill... (It's even sadder for me because I'm Italian and I fell in love with the comics when I was just 10 years old, they were part of my childhood...) :(

Anyway, I always thought it was kind of weird when they made Cornelia and Caleb break up. It seemed like it almost came out of nowhere (and, seeing the way they were going on and on about them, just didn't seem right). I didn't particularly ship them, but it still seemed sort of weird. Unfortunately I haven't followed the love story between Cornelia and Peter, so I can't say whether I like them or not...

Damn, I want to read W.I.T.C.H. again now!

I remember reading in the Finnish editorial for the comics that Italian readers got to vote on Caleb/Cornelia and the result was that they should break up. It always bugged me that the fans had that much control over the series because I can just imagine how petty some people would get if a plot point they liked won a poll. I think the fact that Irma's mother is not her biological mother (even though they look identical, so they were obviously meant to be related in the start) is another reader-chosen plot point.

Really? I had no idea that this happened. In a way, it's nice to see the authors of the comic giving the fandom an actual choice in what happens... but on the other, I think the choice to have one of your main couples break up or not should not be left to the fans. I think the original authors wanted Cornelia and Caleb to be together until the end, otherwise they never would have gone on and on about their 'destined love'. But now it makes sense why their break up came out of nowhere and felt rather weird.

What surprises me is that the result of the vote was that they should break up. I mean, there was a nice set-up for them and neither character was considering anyone else, so I doubt there was any kind of shipping war going on among the readers. I just don't get why so many people didn't want them together.

I wonder the same thing. The girls in my class that read W.I.T.C.H. liked Caleb/Cornelia (I think I was the only one who didn't particularly care for their romance when I was a kid... just let me see the girls kick ass and I'm happy! XD), so it kind of shocked all of us. Also, when I started reading W.I.T.C.H. I was 10 (11 tops) and I imagine a portion of girls who read it were about that age, too... and I don't really think you should have a poll about one of your main couples if, say, 20-25% of the people who read your comic are either in their last year of elementary school or first year of middle school. No offense to kids, but... what the heck do we know about romance when we're 10? XD

I'm probably thinking about this too much... I haven't discussed W.I.T.C.H. in a while and I forgot how fun it was. :)

I loved Cornelia/Caleb but I liked that it ended the way it did. It felt like the right closure to their story to me.
