As a kid, the whole pink hair think didn't bother me. When I saw this scene for the first time as a kid, this is what went through my mind, 'OMG I want to have long and wavy hair just like Mimi and Yolei. OMG those dresses are so pretty'

Seeing this picture now, all I can think is, "OMG those dresses are still pretty and OMG they're channeling Utena....Mimi would look great in Utena's uniform/dueling outfit'

I loved the big dresses too, but the whole "sisters! :D *o*" over what looked very clearly (to child!me) like a romantic crush threw me for a loop.

At the time, it never occurred to me to think of romantic crush, but I did o_0 at the sister thing. I wondered what kind of sister do that....

Yeah, it's one those little things that was lost in translation when dubbed into English.
