I took a visit to tv tropes land *shudder*, googled and found this

I just searched for Kari's name and resolutely ignored everything else

It was a really weird episode, where Kari disappeared from the real world and was taken to the Dark Ocean, where some creepy Digimon wanted to make her their queen. It was pretty dark and messed up for a kids show, tbh. In the German dub it was clear that they wanted to procreate with her. For most of the episode she was like under some kind of trance/mind whammy.

If it hadn't been so shippy (TK is the only one who notices something amiss and he's the one that finds her/guides her back) I never would have caught it again on the reruns.
