I was thinking this myself. If this person is in the USA, for example, then they're probably wracking up a TON of debt in the process, and that's not really good revenge.

Especially when our economy is such shit right now that there are plenty of people with multiple degrees who still can't get a job, or a job in their field, etc.

OP already popped up up-thread to clarify that it wasn't expensive like in the USA.

It depends. I'm in the US, I'm going to rack up a bunch up some loans for my masters (though in the long-run the hope is that that will be off-set by improved opportunities job-wise); my sister, however, is also starting grad school this fall and got an assistantship with her program -- that's covering her tuition, so no loans and no debt.
