02 did not jive for me for many reasons (I don't think I ever even watched the Oikawa stuff because I was so over that series by then) and Episode 13 was definitely one of them. It seemed to just...drop that Sea of Darkness plot altogether and it fit with nothing in either the first or second series. I liked Kari and T.K., especially since my uber-love of them spilled over from Adventure, but I just never fully embraced 02.
Man, sometimes I wish Digimon got to be a show that was way more about character development (and sensical plots) than it was about selling different evolving versions of monster toys. Even with that crutch it was so much more than that.

(Anonymous) 2012-08-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)I liked some parts of the plot, but sometimes I got the feeling that they wanted to include a lot of things they couldn't and often had to scramble to keep going by making up new plot points as they went along.
And yeah, the first Digimon (and the third too, at least from what little I saw) sold monster toys AND tried to do character development and cool plot stuff. I don't know what went wrong with this one.
