Actually, I thought her devastation fit really well.

Hear me out here. Think about her reaction when she lost her brother all those years ago. And how all that time was devoted to finding Artie to help get her brother back. She was willing to do anything to make it happen. She was locked in a psych ward for years because she didn't give into the doctors and give up on her brother.

Claudia is very attached to the people she loves and she's willing to do anything to protect them. I bet she would have been willing to use the artifact to resurrect Pete, Myka, or Artie if it had been one of them who'd been killed.

So I thought her reaction was perfectly in character.
