The reaction to this by the audience and interviewer was charmed laughter. However, I admit to finding these comments a bit creepy myself. As we all know, Dany is still 15 years old (GRRM also confirmed in a recent interview-- not the same one that he said she was hot and he was dying to meet her--that she is still only 15, rather than 16.) GRRM is...what...63, or something? As noted, in the past, GRRM has specified that for his characters, he pictures ideas in his own head, rather than the people who play them. So he thinks a 15 year old girl is "hot" and is just dying to meet her?
I guess apparently most fans see no issue whatsoever with this confession, but I must admit to finding it...incredibly creepy. And after reading it, a whole lot of other issues regarding Dany and the way she is characterized came to light. Such as:
1. GRRM has (in interviews) called the wedding night between the then 13 year old Danerys and khal Drogo (in his early to mid 30's) as "the most romantic scene in the books."
2. From the beginning, GRRM really sexualizes the 13 year old Dany, and shows what (to me) comes across as a rather creepy fixation on her figure, particularly her breasts. Let's note the amount of mentions the 13 year old Danerys breasts get in A Game of Thrones alone, shall we?:
"her budding breasts"
"the tips of her breasts rubbed against her gown"
"her small breasts"
"her tender breasts. She liked to hold them. They were so beautiful.."
"the swell beneath her breasts."
"her swollen breasts"
"A small trickle of sweat trickled slowly between Dany's swollen breasts."
"she used her hands, her mouth, her breasts"
"her milk heavy breasts
"sweat ran in between her breasts"
"her breasts bare"
Here, Dany comes off as either a drooling old man imitating a 13 year old girl, or a 13 year old girl with a morbid fascination and obsession with her own breasts.
What creeps me out is that GRRM begins to sexualize her at 13, and continues to do so throughout the rest of the books.
In short, though its not a huge deal, does anyone else agree with me that a 63 year old man voicing his desire for a 15 year old in public strike anyone else as rather creepy?"
That he doesn't write female characters as crappily as other authors do doesn't mean he's doing it without sexualizing them.

"Well, judging by the books, it seems GRRM considers Cersei long over the hill; far too old for his tastes. In ADWD, as he has her walk naked through the streets of Kings Landing (a scene which, contrary to his claims, has no precedence whatsoever in history; it came completely from his own fantasies), her advanced age (she's 33) and "saggy boobs" are made much of.
To quote the scene:
"She felt ugly, old and used. Her breasts were not so firm as they once were, and without a gown to lift them up, they sagged slack against her chest."
Then someone shouts out, "That can't be the queen-- she's as saggy as my mum."
Interpretations may vary, but it seems to me GRRM is portraying Cersei as an aged harlot here. Slack, stale, and beyond her best. And note-- again, Cersei is only 33 bloody years old. Yet numerous people mock her "saggy boobs" on her walk; and she ends by realizing that she is no longer young or fresh enough.
Interestingly, GRRM's interest seems to be primarily in women between the ages of 12 and 23. With Sansa, he begins sexualizing her in ACOK, with comments like, "Her breasts had grown so full, all her gowns and tunics strained tightly against them." A great deal of description goes into talking about the 12 year old Sansa's boobs. Dany, as we know, starting being sexualized from the beginning, at age 13. And the oldest females GRRM portrays as sexual beings are Arrianne and Asha (both 23).
With women over 23, GRRM seems to consider them, well, old. Cat Stark is asexual (33 years old); Cersei foolishly still thought herself beautful, but she really is an aging lady with sagging breasts (33 years old). And Lysa Tully is described in the following fashion: "She pulled out a heavy white breast, tipped with red." "Beneath her dress hung large, heavy white breasts." "Her breasts sagged and bulged beneath her breasts." And how old is the "saggy" Lysa, with her sagging breasts? Age 29.
So honestly, I think Cersei, at 33, is a good 10 years past GRRM's preferences. (And twenty years past his ideal age, if his comments about Dany are true.)"

"His self confessed avatar has confessed the desire to rape Cersei. In ADWD, Tyrion is asked what he wants most in the world. His answer? "To murder and rape my sister."
In his most recent interview, GRRM has (for about the thousanth time) repeated how similar he is to Tyrion, how Tyrion is by far the character most like him, how Tyrion is his favorite character.
Who knows, might not mean anything. Kind of disturbing though."

"(...)Meanwhile, GRRM has overtly made a comment in an interview that he finds his own 15 year old literary creation sexually attractive. Furthermore, he's overtly said that he finds the scene in which she is deflowered at barely 13 by her enourmous, 30 something year old husband to be "amongst the most romantic scenes in the books." This adds up to some disturbing issues, that do not involve taking what GRRM has written and accusing him of unfair things out of context."
