I was spoiled for it so when the reveal happened I was like, "Yeah, okay. How's being evil working out for you?"

But I did think it was clever how there are little hints about them being related in the game. Little things that make them similar. For example, I know there is one ingredient in their cooking that neither use. I think it's tomato.

I liked that too!

Zelos and Kratos had the same Union abilities and weapons (if different stats, I think), but I think they differed in their recipes in this.

Also Raine was a bad cook in-game and in the plot, Sheena tried different ingredients in-game and if you choose her with the gnomes, Genis was the best, Colette kept things simple, etc.

Yeah! It was little things like that, that really made it worth while for me to replay it so many times. :3

It is pretty awesome though, what you can catch when you know what to look for. Things that slipped under the radar the first time.

Oh man, I remember people on the TOS forum that hadn't gotten to the reveal shipping them.

And me and other people going "Yoooooou might not keep shipping them after a certain point. Just....FYI."

on the other hand, you could argue that losing his family was the final blow to his budding hope

I think that reasoning is fine for Kratos but the moment he realized Lloyd was his son I think he should have switched teams. Whereas I think he switched teams after you get Collette out of the tower the first time. So it's not for Lloyd but because he thinks you maybe have a chance.

Also, I felt he could have done a lot more than just the behind the scenes stuff he did during the game. Being a double agent should have been a bigger role.

no, but I agree, it was a nice touch that he was trailing the heroes and being all mysterious and "don't die lloyd :|", but I would have liked some more glances into the other characters.

Well, don't be silly! Who would want to play a sequel starring different characters than the original? Also, let me shove in the originals as side-characters (and let me make the old main character be secretive and like the opposite in his relationships and personality that he was in the first game for no good reason at all*) to further rub it in!

Go collect a bunch of creatures and flirt with a poor Kratos replacement with your sad new main character and Miss "I might have genuine mental issues" and "lol random puns but I'm a serious character and that makes it funnier right" talking animal companion for company. I hear they're all the rage in anime.

You will love your new antagonists! (They might not even be so bad! *wink*)

Also, let me make a weird art style that flatters the new characters but makes the old ones look like baby's first attempt at Photoshop filters.

I started the game not knowing the reputation it had for being cliché-ridden. Even as I started catching on to it I was still deep in denial.

I had the artbook and it said Kratos was 28 (because that was how old he was SUPPOSED to look). Even after I started catching on that there was something going on with Kratos and Lloyd, I assumed he was an uncle or an older brother. But even then it took me a while.

Secret-wise, I can't tell Fujishima's faces apart, much less their eyes :(

Oh man this reminds me. When my friend started playing we got to talking about ages and how JRPG characters don't always look them. I mentioned casually how Kratos was 28 (which he was... physically, according to the wiki). When she got got spoiled about Kratos being the father I just laughed down the phone line as she went on.

"Lloyd's 17! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?"

I feel a little dumb for not having noticed that they have the same eyes until this secret. I was a big Kratos fangirl and everything.
