I hate to bring up something that I don't recommend, but reading some TV Tropes pages helped me start looking at thing critically even if they actually suck at that themselves.

The reason I don't recommend it is because the site went horribly downhill and a lot of the critical/useful things were deleted for being "too mean":

But anyway, try to search for analyses, reviews and essays on the same topics by different people and then compare them to the thing they're analyzing and try to see if you can spot what they did. It takes time to train your brain to see those sorts of things.
