Hmm. I'm reminded of the time Xena: Warrior Princess hired a BNF (who had turned her Xena AU fic into profic) to write a few episodes of the sixth season, and while I wouldn't say her episodes are essential X:WP viewing, the certainly weren't the worst eps produced, and a marked improvement over pretty much everything in the fifth season. So that's one example of positive creator-fan influence.

OTOH, there's Supernatural and the 'Silent Majority' movement, and while I don't watch SPN from what others have said, it sounds like one segment of fandom was able to impose their views on canon.

The TW contest could go either way, I guess. There's nothing in the announcement that indicates that any of the entries will be used as episode ideas or have an impact on the direction of the show, so it doesn't strike me as much of a problem.

From the fan service in the latest seasons, I'd assume "Destiel" shippers.
