Oh fuck it, I'm just sick of everything
(Anonymous) 2012-08-25 04:23 am (UTC)(link)I'm not above it all, I'll fully admit, man. I'm human, so I've got my biases, and I have this terrible desire to avoid things that make me uncomfortable. Sometimes I give into ti. I know this. I fucking know it!
And because I know it, I force myself into uncomfortable positions. I don't ally with a party or a position and then just tow the line; I constantly reassess. My chances of getting at the actual truth are pretty low (is there even one truth? I mean, fuck!), but damn if I'm not gonna try, even if it makes my stomach twist and my eyes well up.
But there are so few people who are actually into that. People buy propaganda like it's fucking candy or some shit. They blindly listen to pundits and if some dude who's in the same club that they're in says, "HEY DO THIS," they do it without a second thought. And no compromise, dammit! No, everyone who believes something different from you is not only wrong, BUT FUCKING EVIL and they should be ground into the dirt and we shouldn't give any ground to them because if we do then it'll be like Nazi Germany all over again and who gives a shit what Godwin's Law is, I mean damn.
EVERYONE IS SO FUCKING STUPID.
...and, the awful reality is that I most likely am, as well, because I'm prone to the same cognitive illusions as everyone else, ya dig? So all my bluster and venom may just all be arrogance masquerading as righteousness. And there may not be any actual solution to any of the problems we now face. Doom may be inevitable (or the opposite may be inevitable. We like to look on the dark side, so maybe we're all just being pessimistic and it'll all turn out okay).
But man, I just wish we could all stop hating each other for a second and listen to each other and consider that each of us may be wrong about something and that it's better to try to find common ground and work together than to stubbornly go down with the ship.

Sometimes I just get sick and tired of ignorance and hate and discrimination and all the stupid justifications people give for being horrible to each other.
Sometimes I just want to say "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" and go and be a hermit or something.

I think one of the most important things you can do is realize you're probably just as dumb as everyone else and accept that. But still, I agree with everything you've said. I think I've just become a bit more laid back about it... for the time being. My unending rage will bubble up again.
