AYRT I wasn't around for the last incarnation of this, but having read through THE WHOLE THREAD (why yes I am insane LOL), you're right, there are a surprising number of us willing to step up and say NO. Just. NO. to this. Like I've been saying all through, the only way to work this without law enforcement and/or censoring free speech, is through societal pressure on these people to step up, and actively try to be better people. By not reading CP and making excuses for it/calling it by "acceptable" names, etc.
