In "reality" (har har... reality for a cartoon that is), the transformation was only supposed to be a second or less long. At least it was that way in the manga - instantaneous transformation. I can't remember if it was that way in the anime (was there a point where a monster was watching them transform in real time and talking about it?)

No, I always wondered why more monsters didn't try to attack them when they were giving their speeches of "Truth and Justice" or when Tuxedo Mask was spouting off gay poetry. I think the only villain that ever commented upon how stupid it was for them to talk was Iron Mouse - "Wait, you're still talking? Why are you still talking? Bored now". She was definitely my fav and I hated to see her go.
