I feel the same way. I used to write a ton, but then I lost my drive for around four years or so. This new fandom I'm in has a large kink meme, and it's making me plot like never before. It's odd how kink memes can do that.

Go you! I am in (nearly) exactly the same boat. I used to have lots of ideas and inspiration, then one day... nothing.

That was 3 years ago. While kinks memes are cool for the ideas, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth if you can't write smut. Guess who can't write past a fade to black if her life depended on it?

I miss being able to have fun with writing :(
On the plus side, I'm obviously enjoying wallowing in self-pity.
More importantly, good for the OP for getting that mojo back.

Some kink memes have plenty of non-sexual requests, or requests where a sex scene is optional (i.e. as long as there's foot worship, no traditional porn needed). Most of my fills are of the non-porn variety due to similar fade-to-black preferences.

Anything that gets you writing again is worth it, I say. It's all practice, and that practice might just get you to a place where you can once again write the way you used to.

This is pretty much how I was in my last fandom. I used to just write and write and write for the kink meme and no regrets. As long as you enjoy it, it's all good OP.

Right there with you, including once being able to fill one notebook after another and now I've got blank notebooks sitting around untouched. Doing stuff for kink memes has been the only break in my years-long writing dry spell. I finished and posted the first smutty fic I've done since I was fourteen, it was very exciting, lol. When you can't write for yourself anymore, sometimes by request is just the ticket. Inspiration is inspiration, seize the kink, man, seize it.

I've found that kink memes can be a good way to get back into writing in a fun, low-pressure way. It's worked for me before, too.

Don't sweat it. Kink memes are good for more than just smut, but there's nothing wrong with just smut either. The joy of writing is back. And one thing kinkmemes are great for is that feeling that you aren't in this alone. You are part of something much more fun and exciting than just yourself.

My fandom k-meme of choice has all kinds of prompts, and it's that variety and positive atmosphere that got me writing fanfic for the first time ever!
I'm so thankful to be writing, and feel no shame that it's for a k-meme. You shouldn't be worried either.

You don't have to write complete smut OP, a write a lot of plot with my porn and being on the kink meme for my fandom has got me writing a darkfic which, while it has smut in it a lot, it's equally about character development and dark themes.
