Ahaha, Harlequin Romance Novels. The super old ones have charmy, kitchy covers, but I've never been able to read one. I feel like an intruder, like "I shouldn't be reading this" without knowing why I shouldn't. Found one on the bus earlier this year titled (I'm not making this up) The Spaniard's Virgin Housekeeper. I don't even have the courage to open it. Not sure what to do with it, actually. Probably end up leaving it for someone else to find.

One day, I hope to find an abandoned HRN riddled with snarky annotations from the previous reader.

That is one of the most amazing titles I have ever heard.

The cover is even better. At the risk of sounding like "that person" (as in "do not be that guy right now"), it's got the dark haired tanned dude with dinner plate hands holding and kissing this ~liiily white~ ~deeeelicate~ waif with luxurious golden tresses. And their names are Cayo Garcia and Isabel Makepeace. I wish there was video of the author writing this; I can't imagine she wasn't snickering at least a little.

Also Available this month: The Italian's Ruthless Marriage Command, The Greek Millionaire's Baby Bargain, and At the Argentinean Billionaire's Bidding (not making those up either).

So there's this whole subgenre involving wealthy Mediterranean men that I was not even aware of, apparently. Wow.

(OK, Argentina is not in face anywhere near the Mediterranean but let's not nitpick.)

The ones I had weren't even funny-bad. They were just stupid. And I couldn't even see why the couples even liked each other. Even in bad romances you can usually see some reason but they just sort of... met each other and boring stuff happened and then they had sex.

I dunno, I often have sex when I'm bored.
