That's the thing, sometimes you can't leave.

Some fans take their passion too far and try to drag ponies into places they shouldn't.

The cartoon is aimed at children, children who are innocently googling for pictures of their favorite characters or looking through youtube for episodes.

(Did you know that SHED.MOV and the rest of the series are not age restricted and they show up in the "related videos" section for some of the episodes? yeah, imagine a five year old stumbling into a video of Fluttershy ripping apart Rainbow Dash with blood and entrails and all. Cupcakes HD isn't age restricted either.)

A good lesson for parents: preview what your children watch before they watch it, and sit with them when they're surfing the Internet. Any five year old on YouTube by themselves is in for a bigger world of hurt than some craptastic MLP gore/idiocy spoofs.

That's not the point (it's not a bad point, though), but rather than the fans uploading that stuff should know better.

Aren't most bronies older teenagers and adults? Surely they understand how to mark a video as "adult content", or to keep their fanart off of sites that can be easily googled, or to find good places to discuss adult matter beyond the ones that any child could easily find.

Even Equestria Daily split off the adult stuff into a 18+ only site, and Ponychan doesn't admit porn either.

Oh, fimfiction dot net also hides "Mature" rated works by default too.

deviantART allows you to mark stuff as "Mature" too.

Pretty much this. I don't even watch MLP but I see it PUSHED EVERYWHERE. I go on deviantart, I get weirdass pony art, I get memes in all my social media sites, 'tee-hee' references in random comments and forums, and since I'm an illustrator and following storyboards artists, I get the damn brony drama. It's not even that the fandom is stupid or obnoxious like the fans with Homestuck or Hetalia...bronies just so malicious and hateful.

Also, fandoms like Hetalia and Homestuck aren't meant for preschoolers. So I'm not bothered by their nasty fanworks.

This. It's like there is this weird refusal to accept that most of the audience are children and they might go online to find more stuff about the show and stumble into your porn while searching for general information.

And the kicker was how they claim(ed) to be oh so generous and accepting and kind. But at least people have been wising up to this more and more.

I feel sorry for the staff and people at Hasbro. They know they can get money from the older fans too, and they're playing this "walk the tightrope" game with them of not offending them and not offending parents/society at large or causing a scandal.

Exactly. This is why I'm afraid to venture further into MLP fandom, even though it's one of my favorite shows. I don't mind the humanized porn, and even the pony porn doesn't freak me out too much if it's cutesy looking enough. I just don't like seeing it everywhere, where chlidren can see it no less, and I definitely don't like the gory stuff. If they want to do that shit, they should be better at hiding it.

I follow the Chrysalis tag on Tumblr, and after the new-episode flood slowed down, I started seeing a NSFW image on practically ever page. Sometimes untagged, almost never behind a cut, and I doubt kids on Google are going to have Tumblr Savior. I can be okay with the porn if the posters at least try to restrict it.
