Wait, but Finnick is clearly described as white in the books. Blond and green eyed and pale. I have nothing against casting a POC when there is no such specification. But just like Rue was described as dark skinned and so HAD to be played by an African American, Finnick was described in what sounded almost Scandinavian to me. You gotta respect the author's vision at least that much.

Buh? He's described as bronze hair, green eyes and bronze skin. And considering that Panem is a distant future America, he doesn't have to be White (chances are, he's more likely not). Especially POC can have green eyes as well (which Jesse Williams had).

I think you're going a little far there. It's possible his skin is not white, but green eyes and red-blonde hair are still white traits.

considering plenty of actually PoC characters have been replaced by white actors in the past, I don't see why it can't go the other way. Even if Finnick was 100% described as blonde, blue eyed, pale, or whatever (which he wasn't), I'd be happy to see him played by someone non-white. The point of his character was that he was stupidly attractive, clever, and his background with the Capitol (which I won't spoil for others).
