Actually, my own theory is that Meg and the rest of the Hercules characters designs deviated from the standard Disney characters. Sharp angles, bold coiling, really exaggerated anatomy...imagine Meg with soft curves, round face and withouth her coil-y hair. Weird.

That's another good one. It's the same problem I have with Rapunzel... she looks so weird in her 2d version!
