Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

... why were you Anglophobic? I didn't even know that was a thing.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-03 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
They are probably French!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-03 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
...or Scottish, or Welsh, of Northern Irish, or Irish... The possibilities are endless!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking in Hetalia, but you are damn right! (They could even be English...)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Yes, they could!

I didn't make the connection with Hetalia!France. I take it their relationship is a bit rocky? (I've only watched three episodes, I'm not very Hetalia savvy...)

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes it is. I don't think they actually hate each other, but they surely like to say so... though it would be more like England to tell he's Francophobic than the other way round. :D

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, that's pretty much how English/French supporters act around each other during sports events. And then they make up with beer (at least in rugby). Sibling rivalry, almost.

We don't know about the other way around, but according to tptb England outright hates France.

They definitely have an odd sort of friendship though. Frienemies, I'd say.

The English have been douchebags to pretty much everyone they've come across. There's a reason so many of their colonies violently rebelled. They've also been historically arrogant, racist, expansionist, misogynistic, and just generally horrible people. The sheer atrocities they've incited on other people are innumerable. There's not a corner of the globe they've touched that didn't come out hating them.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
And so did the Romans, Spanish, Turks, Mongols, Japanese, French, Germans, Russians and every empire ever.

Take your indignation against them evil English somewhere else.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-03 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
ngl i want somebody English to troll here now

(Anonymous) 2012-09-03 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well you could pretend to be English and do the trolling yourself.

*Actually is English but is also crap at trolling*

... Anglophobia?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
If there're Anglophiles, there have to be Anglophobes. Pity people use -phobe and not -ode.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I was the first commenter who didn't know Anglophobia existed before, and I thought they actually meant they were AFRAID of England/English people/English stuff in general, not that they just disliked it.... oops.

3/4 of the cast of Hetalia is pretty damn woobieriffic. I don't imagine that England should be an exception.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
3/4 is pretty generous. I can hardly think of one non-woobie character. Even the macho-looking ones like Rome and Turkey are moe.

That's true.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
That's the whole point though. Hetalia's supposed to be funny, and as much as I'd love a historically accurate (ie. mostly dark) portrayal of each country, I don't think Hetalia would have the same effect if that happened.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
But I do love that when it happens in fanfic, you know, the Darker and Edgier thing, where every country acts like a dick... and they can still be woobies, mostly because they are broken beyond imagination.

[personal profile] lovelycudy 2012-09-04 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Good for you, OP.

All of them are woobies, tho. England is just super-woobified by fandom.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-07 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'm British and I hated my country and it's people for a very long time, ever since we moved back to the UK from abroad.

He helped me too, it's the most ridiculous thing.
