The lack of Black Widow merchandise gets me all kinds of frustrated. Especially when there's like a billion different kinds of figures and stuff for Iron Man/Captain America/Thor.

As someone who tried to get female figures when she was little, when you look at how there's a million Superman and Batman figures and only one or two Wonder Woman figures, you'd think they'd sell well...but in reality those are the ONLY Wonder Woman figures they put on the shelf, and it's a miracle that a collector hasn't already bought them already. And that's really who those female figures are for considering female figures in more collectable toylines, if not outright equal, at least won't be always out of stock when you look for them.

That reminds me: I saw a big cardboard cutout of the Avengers last week at my local store promoting the DVD and I cheered! Until I saw that Black Widow was in a small corner and you could mostly see her butt. Sheesh...

It's just so sad because she is a LEGITIMATE CHARACTER DAMMIT. She has feelings and motivations and she's actually compelling and smart and fucking awesome in a way that the other characters are awesome, she holds her own and then she is shoved out of all the promotional material and merchandise! WTF.

PEOPLE WOULD BUY BLACK WIDOW MERCHANDISE. My thirteen year old brother didn't even say anything about her being sexy when we left the theater because he was too focused on how much she KICKED ASS.

sort of related? I met a guy once with a group of friends and we were talking about avengers and I asked him who is fav was and he said Black Widow. I teased him, "is it because she's hot or because she kicks ass?" he immediately responded "BOTH!"

I think it's ok to acknowledge that yeah people are gonna find her attractive but she's still a great fighter and character too. reducing her to only her t&a just...ugh. I mean lots of people think that, for example, Cap was awesome but you don't see a lot of merch of shirtless Cap working out and portrayed in a conventionally attractive manner, you see him fully suited with emphasis on his combat powers and hero getup. /gender roles rant

There was a package of like 10 little tiny figures Target DID sell this summer and it had Black Widow along with all the others in it, as chibis. I used them on top of my sister's birthday cupcakes (along with some homemade vinyl-paper Captain America shields I printed behind them). So I know they WERE manufactured. But they're very tiny.

There's a 4-inch figure (I wanna say it's "grapple blast Black Widow" or something like that) that I've seen occasionally at Walmart and Target. But I am srs pissed that she's not part of the Walmart-exclusive "movie series" or-whatever-it's-called line, because those are seriously nice-looking toys with surprisingly accurate sculpts, and why the heck are Hawkeye and Loki included but Black Widow isn't.

See it's one thing when it's all CAP AND IRON MAN AND THOR with the occasional Hulk thrown in and of course, nothing about Bruce, no one cares about his fucking character they just want big angry green strong guy ... is my fangirl-ness showing woops sorry and just have those four because they're the most popular and they'll sell. Annoying, but understandable.

But to explicitly include LOKI and HAWKEYE and leave out BW? is gross. Wal-mart, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

I don't pay any attention at all to action figures so I might be wrong, but don't they also just sell Iron Man figures, never any Tony Stark ones?

true. but that's basically Stark in a suit, like all the others. Hulk and Bruce are almost two different people.

I fully recognize that that's a petty complaint, though. I'm more just emphasizing that Hulk/Iron Man/Thor/Cap are the Four Popular Strong Dudes and that's why they're marketed, which is separate from explicitly leaving BW and only BW out of everything. even if it's still annoying
