Historical Pairings: Favourites? Fic Recs?

There was a thread the other day about favourite pairings... so I wanted to get the ball rolling on the historical side of things.

I'm not sure if this counts as "historical", but when I was studying social theory in uni, I slashed most of the theorists (for fun and because I loved the thought of them disagreeing on some point and then having hate!sex afterwards). My main inspirations were Marx, Barthes, Foucault and Bordieu, among others. It was really more of a "what would happen if all these guys existed in some kind of historical AU?" sort of thing that helped make reading pages and pages of social theory a bit more entertaining.

When I was stuyding ancient Egypt in high school, I shipped Akhenaten/Smenkhare. I never told a soul.

Because...Alexander the Great and his close friend Hephaestion. They are my history OTP for life.

I've never found fic about it, but I've shipped Picasso/Braque since I was 16.
