Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].

I'm not sure I can agree with this. I think a good story should be told first and worrying if it's a social metaphor shoudl be secondary to that.

I mean, sure, people will debate if this is a good story or not, but were I on the marvel staff, I wouldn't be afraid of having an Avengers vs X-men story simply because some would read it as "government vs minority"

I'd agree if this was a different story in a different universe, but in the current Marvel universe, against the X-Men, whose minority status has been pounded into everyone's head since the '60s? Yeah, can't really ignore it.

Nope, Marvel lost all their neutrality in this regard the minute they started writing explicit, current-issue, narrowly-tailored political metaphors into their work when the War on Terror started. If they want to write an Avengers vs X-Men story after that, fine, but now they have to either take that undertone into account when they write it, or find a way to obviously remove it from the equation.

I mean come on, they had Mark Millar tell everyone that the pro-reg side was supposed to be in the right during Civil War. You think I'm not gonna side-eye the bejeezus out of everything problematic they do regarding social metaphors and government roles and minorities after that?

Well the real point I take from that is to not listen to Mark Millar.

For fuck sakes, he wrote Skull Kill Krew!
