how do you kill the unborn? is that like some pro-life message?

The phoenix is fueld potential. Every time Rachel Summers used the phoenix force in the way that she was at the time, that many were never born that otherwise would have been.

Yeah, so wouldn't something else be born in its place? Like since Suzy wouldn't be born, Joan would give birth to Lucy instead?

I think it's more like, Suzy wont' be born and Joan won't ever give birth.

How does that work? Joan is infertile? Or the Phoenix makes it so Joan never wants to have kids?

Also, I think the Phoenix more than made up for any potential life it takes when it saved all of existence from being wiped out back in Uncanny X-Men #108, or in Here Comes Tomorrow when it repaired the broken timeline to stop the horrible future where Sublime took over from happening.

The Phoenix didn't even know it was doing it until Galactus told it, then it left until Grant Morrison's run when it came back to repair the timeline and now it's presumably coming back to fix the mutant decimation.

how about the planets it destroyed in the current event? I'm not saying the phoenix is unnecessary, but it's a dick.

Hell, Dark Phoenix was a story arc all about how the PHOENIX IS A DICK.

Dark Phoenix was more Mastermind and Emma's fault. "Jean" had placed several telepathic blockers or something to stop herself from accessing all of her power because it was too much. Mastermind removed them and corrupted her, which is what led to Dark Phoenix.

Also, if you noticed both DP and AVX happened when the Phoenix didn't have any host. So letting it bond with Hope probably would have made things better.

Oh agreed. The Phoenix is better with a host. Without one though... I can see why if stopping it was a viable option you'd just go with that.
