Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

I don't like it, but parents do have the right to teach even horrible things like hatred and bigotry.

Hm, I disagree. I think at some point it becomes an abusive relationship. Emotionally or mentally abusive. Something along those lines.

So basically what you're saying is that the circle of hatred and bigotry can never end? Because if parent's are allowed to continue teaching their children ignorant things about race, religion, sexual orientation and even science, that's what will happen.

I generally agree that denying evolution is not a good thing but I don't think it can really be compared to teaching outright bigotry and violence. =/ I think that overblows the effects of teaching literal creationism in the home (when children are, or at least should be, exposed to evolution in schools) and undermines the seriousness of passing along bigotry and hate.

Also, if a person believes in literal creationism and that person isn't in a scientific field, it doesn't really matter all that much imo. You're entitled to your beliefs.

Within the homosexual element, there is a group called the “power bottomers.” The power bottomer is not just an expert at sodomy; he is singularly dedicated to this sexual assault and will entertain no other. Simply put, it is the only way he will achieve ejaculatory gratification. Recently, power bottoming has moved out of the shadows from a perverse psychological dilemma to a full-blown cultural trend with shamelessly vocal adherents. These types of sodomites delight in their lack of carnal dimensionality and spend much of their free time seeking out a mate who can balance their “queer” equation.

uhhhhhhhhh.........

........what?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
I used to be verbally and physically shamed for masturbating even in private. I was shamed for any sort of sexuality and taught that it was bad and wrong because God is watching and 15 years later as a grown adult I still have hangups about sex. I was taught that being attracted to the same gender was wrong. I was taught that women should be meek and mild and the point of life was to have a husband and kids by 30.

It took discovering the internet and people on it at the age of 15 or so for me to realize not everybody believed all this and that all of what my parents was telling me was utter bullshit. Until then, I was taught to hate myself.

Parents have the right to raise children, not to abuse them. Teaching them things like this is abuse.

=/ I'm really sorry that happened to you. And I agree that your situation was abusive.

I don't think teaching literal creationism is the same thing though. It's not directly harmful to a person like teaching things such as "your sexuality is wrong/evil" and "women should be subservient". It's just misinformation that isn't directly relevant to you.

"I don't like it, but parents do have the right to teach even horrible things like hatred and bigotry."

They didn't say Creationism. They literally said horrible things like hatred and bigotry.

anon I replied to didn't literally say that. And my point is that people in this conversation ARE *directly* comparing teaching literal creationism to teaching bigotry. which is wrong imo.

I am the anon you replied to. And I was replying to sirvalkyrie's comment that "I don't like it, but parents do have the right to teach even horrible things like hatred and bigotry."

I don't care what other people are comparing or not. I'm addressing that statement by sirvalkyrie which is all kinds of no. That is abuse.

Oh, ok. I misunderstood the point of your comment. I apologize.
