Notes:

Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.
Secrets Not Posted: [ 0 - broken links ], [ 0 - not!secrets ], [ 0 - not!fandom ], [ 0 - too big ], [ 0 - repeat ].
Current Secret Submissions Post: here.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.

They were trying to cover the specific triggers of the individuals they knew to be participating in the fest, not "anything that can possibly trigger anyone" or even "likely triggers for large groups of people."

Individual triggers are random like that. People can develop triggers for the language their abuser spoke, or a poster on the wall that they saw during the traumatic incident, or a specific object or item of clothing that was involved. (Surely you can imagine how certain kinds of traumatic situation could involve couch cushions? I can think of two or three scenarios without even trying.)

There's still a point where it's stopped being practical for the overall picture and is just silly.

Ah, c'est la vie.

I can imagine situations where someone would be triggered by all transgender people, a trigger request someone made in the comments on HSO, and I'm still sure as fuck going to have a problem with an organization or event that upholds enforcing "transgender people" as a trigger warning.

Yes, and that's different from the couch cushions because it's DISCRIMINATORY AS FUCK.

I don't think that the HSO trigger warning policy was well done, and I can think of about three ways to do it better, but can you really not see the difference between a person asking for warnings for a harmless object and for a group of people who are heavily discriminated against in real life?
