Notes:
Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.
If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.
The submissions post for next week is below as usual.
Secrets Left to Post: ?? pages, ??? secrets from Secret Submission Post #296.

Re: Stupid questions from non-natives (Part Two)
(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 12:53 am (UTC)(link)The whole high school cliques stands out to me, but maybe it has to do not only with culture but with me having attended a very small school. The Prom is something else that stands out.
Another thing is Universities and the matter of people getting into debt to get a degree. Here (I'm talking about Buenos Aires, the capital city, although of course there are other universities, but I don't have much knowledge about the) we have private Universities but the most recognised is public and completely free. Also, we don't do dorms, everybody commutes to class, some people have to travel quite a bit, but nobody lives there. I would love to have the dorm experience! :(
And regarding the other question, there is peer pressure, as it is everywhere. Maybe the "latest thing" is not the same here than in other places (maybe because of a delay in some thing getting popular abroad, or maybe because a particular popular thing somewhere doesn't "catch" here) but there definitely are things that are "in vogue" and peer pressure to keep up and like them (of course, that doesn't mean everybody does, as it doesn't happen in the US either xD)
Re: Stupid questions from non-natives (Part Two)
(Anonymous) 2012-09-04 03:08 am (UTC)(link)Well a lot of us don't like it or think it makes much sense either.
The dorm experience is actually pretty cool though, I'm glad we had that. You're missing out. On the other hand, you're not laden with debt, so, you know, we'll call it even I guess.
