1- Yeah, it happens. Especially when the characters are talking about a very specific subject like a particular restaurant (Olive Garden), joke about how LA streets are all Mullholland something (in The Closer), or talk about the finer points of the American judiciary system.

2- Not really. When it's hot, when you've had your tonsils taken out and for Christmas/New year, for which we have the Holy Trinity of ice cream: baked Alaska (or Norwegian omelette), bûche de Noël (the ice cream version, but the creamy version also exists) and nougat glacé (that's nougat in ice cream form served with a raspberry/strawberry sauce.) And there are some ice-cream based desserts that you can eat any time.

I hear you on the American judiciary system! I love Jodi Picoult's booka but man, is she obsessed with including a trial in every freaking book!? xD
