Important: I'm really sorry about this, but I accidentally misclicked and deleted the submission post from last week instead of saving it. Managed to save the first page (25) of secrets, but the rest (about 100 or so) are gone.

If you submitted something last week (Aug 26-Sept 1), please resubmit it here.

The submissions post for next week is below as usual.

Phoenix has been all about destruction, blowing up entire planets, and trying to blow up the earth.

lol, when did the phoenix ever try to blow up the earth?

Well, recently in the "Iron Age". And the whole raison d'être of the Phoenix is passing "Judgement" and destroying things it doesn't like and judges 'obsolete'. The most famous Phoenix storyline is the Dark Phoenix and X-3, reviled though it may be, is still going to have a presence in public conciousness, and "Phoenix" featured as the crazy ultra-destructive force of murder. When Hope was born, the Phoenix Force was featured by Marvel editorial as the "destructive aura" of Hope's ~Evil potential.

So yeah, for a while now.

The "Iron Age" story took place in the Dark Phoenix incident. So that's still one incident (also, how many people actually know about that story? Is it even canon?). Furthermore, the Phoenix in that storyline was corrupted and driven crazy, that's not how it normally acts. For most of the Phoenix's history it's been a force of good that's helped save the world several times.

As for X3, while Jean called herself Phoenix, that was just an alternate personality, the cosmic entity wasn't even in the film.

Furthermore, in response to your original post, the Avengers splitting the Phoenix into five only made things worse. They caused the whole problem of the Phoenix Five, when they should have just let it go to Hope (which is what they're trying to do now).

I am... not disagreeing with that? I'm saying that whatever the intricracies, everytime Phoenix has been involved, so has destruction and usually at the hands of the Phoenix.

And while I am aware that X-3's "Phoenix" (hence the quotes) wasn't actually the Phoenix Force, it being a movie, definitely had an effect on what "current" PTB shape the Phoenix as since that's what a lot of the audience expects.

And I though the Avengers/Iron Fist were training Hope with the power of Shao Lao in order to fight the Phoenix, since the dragon was the only thing to have ever defeated it, not "letting it go to Hope"

But sorry, I still don't think that the Avengers should have sat on their butts doing nothing and *hoping* the Phoenix would be good, when it was making it's way towards Earth, destroying any planet with the misfortune of being in its path. I'm pissed that even this knowledge wasn't enough to put a dent in Scott's ~plan, and I don't agree with how the Avengers started their confrontation with the X-Men, but I'm not pissed that the Avengers thought planets-going-kaboom was a valid reason to think of Phoenix as a destructive threat and do something.

Not true. What other examples are there, besides Dark Phoenix and AVX?

da

I can help here. Dark Pheonix is obviously iconic. Then there's the 'destroying unborn potential' during Rachel's stint which IIRC is considered the best Phoenix outcome to date. Then there was the Ultraverse thing, where Pheonix killed several people and would have destroyed the earth if X-Men hadn't stopped it. The Jean came back and had to white-room herself to stop it going out of control, and I think it was also here that Wolvie killed Jean lots on her orders. Then there was Madelyne going boom. And recently Phoenix possessed Emma and attempted to make her kill Hope for some reason.

When it comes to alternate realities, I only know Age of X second-hand, but I'm fairly sure there was something about Pheonix destroying a whole city and killing Jean, there as well.

And when the Phoenix found out about that, it was horrified and left.

Then there was the Ultraverse thing, where Pheonix killed several people and would have destroyed the earth if X-Men hadn't stopped it.

I haven't read that, but according to Wiki that was because the Phoenix was injured when it was pulled into the other dimension, causing it to go insane.

The Jean came back and had to white-room herself to stop it going out of control, and I think it was also here that Wolvie killed Jean lots on her orders.

If I recall, that was because the Shi'ar brought the Phoenix back before it was ready to come back. And even then at the end it was back to normal when Jean bonded with it again.

Then there was Madelyne going boom.

What did that have to do with the Phoenix?

And recently Phoenix possessed Emma and attempted to make her kill Hope for some reason.

Are we sure that was really the Phoenix and not something caused by the Fear Itself thing making Emma go crazy?

When it comes to alternate realities, I only know Age of X second-hand, but I'm fairly sure there was something about Pheonix destroying a whole city and killing Jean, there as well.

The Age of X was a fake reality created by one of Legion's personas, so it didn't really happen.

Dude, dude. Are you seriously not getting the point of this? It doesn't really change the point, no matter what the Phoenix meant to do~ or thought~ when almost EVERY SINGLE TIME it has come in contact with Earth or really, any peoples, it has led to people dying and imminent destructionTM etc!

Even if we believe that this time Phoenix was coming to Earth with entirely good intentions and that was enough reason~ for the Avenger to sit twiddling their thumbs, despite the Phoenix having destroyed two planets on its way (which who cares right? Totally the actions of a benevolent power), then by your own account, the Phoenix has come with good intentions before and it has still led to death and destruction. WTF even is your argument here?

(And Madelyne or maybe that was a clone of Madelyne, not sure, it went boom because of being possessed by the Phoenix, that's what it has to with the Phoenix, and afa canon tells us, it was definitely the Phoenix in FI.)

when almost EVERY SINGLE TIME it has come in contact with Earth or really, any peoples, it has led to people dying and imminent destructionTM etc!

And my point is you're incorrect. It didn't lead to people dying and imminent destruction when Rachel was it's host for almost a decade (Uncanny X-Men #199 in November 1985 - Excalibur #64 in April 1994), it didn't lead to people dying and imminent destruction when the real Jean was it's host in New X-Men.

It didn't kill anyone in Endsong either.

As for Madelyne, she died because she went crazy after being corrupted by demons and discovering she was a clone.

And how was it definitely the Phoenix in Fear Itself, and not just Emma having a nightmare?

The only example you gave that really counts is from that crappy Malibu Comics imprint.
